some differences

If a conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat. If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone..

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy. A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life. If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal wants all churches to be silenced.


If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

Not So Fast, Vance




FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons today signed defensive tackle Jeremy Clark to the practice squad.

Clark, 6-3, 309 pounds, was originally signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie free agent on May 14, 2007. After spending the 2007 campaign on the Eagles' practice squad, the New York Giants acquired the Alabama graduate prior to the 2008 training camp. Clark spent the majority of the 2008 year on the Giants practice squad before being elevated to the 53-man roster in late November. He competed in four games while totaling three tackles and a half of a sack.

Clark's signing gives the Falcons another developmental interior defensive lineman prospect on the practice squad. Defensive tackle Vance Walker, a Georgia Tech standout and 2009 seventh-round draft choice, was signed from the practice squad to the active roster on Monday in the wake of the season-ending knee injury to rookie Peria Jerry.

We need a smaller tent




Having been a longstanding Libertarian ( read: sent $$$ )it troubles me now to see the influx of conservatives into the Libertarian Party.

When Bill Clinton won his first term, I voted Perot.
When he won his second term, I became a true Libertarian.

Even after 9-11, when my party had it's convention here in the ATL, I argued against guys like former editor Sugg of the now bankrupt Creative Loafing about sending troops into Afghanistan. The fires at ground zero were not even out yet, and half of our party was arguing that we should not use the military to get Osama, instead leave that to the CIA. The CIA?!!! Now the argument is that the CIA tortured people!!!

Well, now isn't it more then a little amazing how many folks just recently 'became' an independant?

Like Boortz, for example. He told his listeners NOT to vote Libertarian in the last 2 POTUS elections. Of course, he is 'independant'...

I did not support the Iraq war. I argued against it on the Atlanta airwaves.

I support decriminalization, and 2nd amendment rights. I used to be pro death penalty, but after witnessing the DNA reversals I now do not. I am prochoice.

I dont care about gay marriage. I dont know anyone that really does!

So, if I do not support the current President, what does that make me now?


It's very convenient that so many GOP rubes are now 'independant'.

Good For Obama!



No more imaginary 'Star Wars' shield for Europe. Obama made the right choice.

The missile system stood to increase the conflict with Russia, possibly leading to new mini-cold war. It did more harm than good. We don't need to defend Europe, they have the European union with more money and without the 10 trillion dollars in debt. And Iran isn't going to blindly attack Poland, that's completely retarded, and they understand it would be suicide. We don't need to waste money building missile systems in other countries that only cause conflict.



We need a safe, secure global marketplace with a stable US government financial system. By canceling this mythical missile shield that serves only to antagonize Russia without providing any real defense against an Iranian threat, Obama has saved us money and made steps toward a more secure globe.

I cant understand how the same people who demand we stop spending are now complaining we are selling out Poland.

Stop it already!




This is what I cannot stand about conservative talk radio.

I have been listening again to see if anyone would admonish Joe Wilson for crying out 'Liar' during Obama's speech. Some did, but most tried the old 'Hey, they yelled at Bush ! They booed him! 4 years ago! They called him names, too~!'

Look, you can't defend bad behaviour by saying 'they did it too!'. We expect that stuff, but our represenatives are supposed to be above that.

Also, when W was in office, the lefties were crying 'unemployment isn't 9%, it's really 14%! Alot of laid off people stopped looking for work!'

Now, I heard that exact argument from Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck. They are using the same argument now that Obama is in office.

Knock it off!

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The questing before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable–and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace– but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!


I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Capitalism is evil. That is the conclusion U.S. documentary maker Michael Moore comes to in his latest movie "Capitalism: A Love Story," which premieres at the Venice film festival Sunday.

Blending his trademark humor with tragic individual stories, archive footage and publicity stunts, the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty.

"Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil," the two-hour movie concludes.

"You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy."



So, the hero of the left thinks Capitalism is evil and should be eliminated.

Also: I liken this to the Al Gore Problem.

You see, you can't honestly tell people to leave a smaller carbon footprint while your own home and your own travel itinerary are not compatible. So, the only way for Al to come off looking good in that scenario is to get up in the tree with 'Butterfly' and quit taking hot showers. But when he doesn;t, he looks like a hypocrit.

Micheal Moore hates capitalism? Give all your fortune to Chavez and Castro and beat it. What's that,you say?

Ted Turner: there's a guy that walks the walk. I may not agree with him, but he gave a billion dollars to Unicef.

Until Moore gives all his $$ away to the poor, he has Gore's problem.

And the Dems thought they were using HIM....You guys got used!

One Year Later

Last September, Mr Beck was openly dissing my party ( Libertarian) NOT giving Ron Paul ANY airtime.

Last September, he was encouraging me to stock up on canned foods, buy 'survival seeds' and firearms. He actually said people were buying safes at record rates to STORE thier guns in.

He predicted a full blown economic meltdown. Well?

Look, I give the guy some credit. He exposed Van Jones and got him to resign.

But~ where is the meltdown? How do I explain to my wife and child that I bought all those cans of chicken and tried to grow a vegetable garden to prepare for the onslaught?

Glenn Beck, if he were an honorable man, would come out and admit he was wrong, and that he was using fear to promote himself.

You see, I have to admit it. I listened to this guy. I did what I thought was best for my family, but now I look foolish. I don't get the security of his walls and guards. I have an ancient beagle, not a trained german shepherd.

Glenn Beck owes me an apology, and he needs to 'fess up that many of his economic predictions did not come true.

Oh yeah, he's not for 'single payer healthcare'. I'm with him on that, but it would help if this wasn't in his past.

Atlanta's Mayoral Race is National News

The city that became a post-civil rights movement emblem of the political power held by African-Americans could have a white mayor for the first time in a generation -- a possibility that has some in the black community scrambling to hold on to City Hall.

Atlanta Councilwoman Mary Norwood, who is white, is one of the front-runners for the Nov. 3 election, along with City Council President Lisa Borders and state Sen. Kasim Reed, both of whom are black.

All three have bristled at a racially charged e-mail circulated by a black leadership group calling for Norwood's defeat before a possible runoff. If the black candidates split the African-American vote, Norwood may find herself in a runoff.

"I suspect we will see high levels of racial polarization," said University of Georgia political science professor Charles Bullock. "This e-mail may have been used to promote turnout, to get higher levels of participation from the black community. But it could also spark higher levels of participation in the white community. It's a scare tactic."

Atlanta, which has billed itself as "the city too busy to hate," elected Maynard Jackson as its first black mayor in 1973. Blacks who had won the right to vote less than a decade earlier rallied behind Jackson, who forced the city's white business elite to open their doors to minorities and adopted strict affirmative action policies.

His election solidified the voting power of urban blacks, and the city has elected black mayors since. And while blacks have been the majority population and voting bloc in the city for decades, the demographics have changed in recent years.

A large voting bloc -- residents in the city's public housing -- was erased as Atlanta's crumbling projects were demolished over the past decade. And young professionals, black and white, have flocked to opportunity in the city.

In 2000, Atlanta was 33 percent white and 61 percent black. In 2007, the numbers were 38 percent white and 57 percent black, according to the U.S. Census.

In addition, blacks may no longer feel obligated to elect a black mayor, said William Boone, a political science professor at Clark Atlanta University and co-author of the racially-charged e-mail.

"You have a young generation of blacks -- not native to Atlanta -- who don't necessarily see that as something that has to happen," Boone said. "They may be staking their vote on matters more critical than race."

In the memo, Boone and Keith Jennings -- also a political science professor at Clark Atlanta -- urge black voters to rally behind Borders, whose grandfather desegregated the city's police force and who was recently endorsed by the city's black clergy, to prevent a runoff that could hand Norwood a victory.

The incendiary and widely circulated e-mail sent in late August to black Atlantans specifically noted Norwood's race.

"Time is of the essence because in order to defeat a Norwood (white) mayoral candidacy we have to get out now and work in a manner to defeat her without a runoff, and the key is a significant Black turnout in the general election," the message sent by the Black Leadership Forum reads.

"There is an unstated assumption that having a black mayor in Atlanta is equal to having a black social, economic and political agenda or at least someone in office who would be sensitive to that agenda if not a full promoter of that agenda ... A black agenda would better enable us to have our interests respected by and our influence realized in any administration."

Borders is seen as the more formidable challenger to Norwood, but Reed, an Atlanta attorney who ran current Mayor Shirley Franklin's two successful campaigns, was recently endorsed by civil rights icon and former Mayor Andrew Young and enjoys support from the city's young, black professional community.

They and Norwood, a former radio executive who also heads an automated telephone call business, are among 13 mayoral candidates -- at least four of them white. Franklin, who became the city's first female chief executive in 2002, is limited to two consecutive terms and will finish her second with mixed reviews.

Borders, Norwood and Reed have all denounced the Black Leadership Forum's e-mail and attempted to shift the conversation away from race.

Norwood, who so far has not been embraced by any prominent black Atlantans, would be the first white woman to run the city. For eight years, the petite, scrappy 57-year-old has held a citywide post on the 16-member Atlanta council, where she is one of five white members. She said her approach is more on results than race.

"We all come in our packages," she said. "This is the package I got."

Not that Norwood is averse to using racial symbolism. Her campaign headquarters is in the former offices of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, co-founded by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1957. And when she won support from the city's firefighters, she announced the endorsement from a shuttered fire station in the heavily black West End neighborhood, home to some of the nation's best-known historically black colleges.

David Bositis of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington said cities with large black populations like Gary, Ind., Philadelphia, Baltimore and St. Louis have all had white mayors in recent years.

"African-Americans are very pragmatic. When they look at politics, they look at what's going to work," Bositis said. "It's perfectly fine if a white mayor gets elected with black support. On the other hand, it's not a good sign if you have ... a white candidate getting elected with white votes. It's an indication of polarization."





So there you have it, and it was brought to us by the most racist segregated city in the USA, Boston!

NOw, my personal opinion is that Norwood can't fix this mess.

I have absolutely NO FAITH in any promises made by a City Council Member, they are not honest.

When 'Shirley-Girl' got the nod from the 'powers that bee~s' that she would ascend the throne she made a promise to fix our sh*tty streets. Take a little gander at the road that is outside my 2nd house:



Now, I made calls, wrote letters, talked to city council members, and was told that this little stretch of road was 'on track to be paved'. Uh-huh. That was 3 years ago.

Everytime it rains, it washes out. Then the city gets around to sending out a truck crew to put more dirt and rocks on it until it rains again. There is no sign that this will get fixed anytime soon. I consider this a 'broken promise' from Franklin, with the City Council as her accomplices.

So does anyone think Kasim Reed is going to right this ship? Or Lisa Borders? Hell, our last mayor was a crook and went to prison!! Even mighty whitey Norwood cannot help. What it would take is a guy like Clark Howard, with his fiscal track record he could get this city right. But~ he is a white Jew, and thusly cannot be considered for the post.

It doesn't really matter what color the Mayor is, if the people holding the REAL power are still behind the scenes.

MLK would be ashamed.
